Product Care

Quality lingerie is an investment in feeling amazing, and taking proper care of your pieces ensures they last and stay as beautiful as the day you fell in love with them. Different fabrics and trims—like lace, satin, cotton, and elastics—require their own special care to remain at their best. Below are our general guidelines for washing and maintaining your curvy lingerie, along with tips to extend the life of your bras and panties. With a little extra love, your favorite pieces will continue to support and delight you over time.

Washing Your Lingerie

General Guidance:
Always check the garment’s care label for the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning method. When in doubt, hand wash in cool water for the safest option.

Hand Washing (Recommended):
Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm or cool water and add a gentle detergent (a mild baby shampoo works in a pinch). Submerge your lingerie and gently swirl it to loosen dirt and oils—let it soak for about 5–10 minutes. Then, softly rub areas like the underband or cups (especially where it touches your skin) between your fingers. Avoid aggressive scrubbing on delicate lace or mesh, as this can cause snagging or stretching. Drain the soapy water and refill with clean water to rinse, repeating 2–3 times until all detergent is removed. Support the item when lifting it out—wet fabric can stretch if left dangling. Gently press (don’t wring or twist) to remove excess water.

Machine Washing (If Necessary):
If you’re short on time, some lingerie can be machine washed on a delicate cycle with cold water. Always place your bras and delicate panties in a mesh lingerie bag to prevent tangling or stretching. Fasten your bra hooks before washing to avoid snags, and wash with similar colors. Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach or fabric softener (especially on items with elastane). Remember, underwire bras are best hand washed to protect the wires—even with a mesh bag, there’s always some risk.

Special Fabrics:

  • Lace: Extremely delicate and prone to snagging. Hand wash or use a lingerie bag if machine washing, and avoid wringing to keep its shape.
  • Satin/Silk: For luxurious satin or silk pieces, hand wash in cold water with a detergent formulated for silk. Don’t soak too long or dry in direct sunlight to prevent damage and fading.
  • Cotton: Cotton items are sturdier and can handle warm water, but for longevity, cool or lukewarm water is preferable. A gentle machine cycle is acceptable.
  • Microfiber/Elastane Blends: These modern fabrics do best when washed in cool water. Avoid high-heat drying to maintain elasticity.
  • Embroidery or Beads: Delicate embellishments require gentle hand washing. For very ornate items, consider spot cleaning with a mild detergent.

Drying & Storage

Never Tumble Dry:
High dryer heat can ruin elastic, cause shrinkage, and warp underwires. Air drying is always the best option for your curvy lingerie.

Air Drying:
After washing, gently press out excess water by laying your item on a towel and rolling it up to transfer moisture. Reshape the garment—ensure bra cups are rounded and not folded or dented—and then either hang or lay flat to dry:

  • Hanging: Hang bras by the center gore on a hanger or clothesline to avoid uneven stretching. This method is also fine for panties or nightgowns, though delicate items like knit camisoles are better laid flat.
  • Lay Flat: The safest option for delicate items is to lay them on a drying rack or a dry towel in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.

Reshaping Bras:
While drying, take a moment to gently reshape molded or padded cups to preserve their form. If the cups are accidentally turned inside out, carefully pop them back to shape. For extra structure, some prefer draping the bra over a rounded object while it dries.

Ironing:
Generally, avoid ironing lingerie. Most materials—such as lace, satin, and elastic blends—can be damaged by direct heat. If necessary, use a cool iron with a protective cloth or a distant garment steamer.

Storage:
How you store your lingerie affects its lifespan:

  • Bras: For molded or padded bras, avoid inverting the cups to prevent denting. Instead, stack bras with the cups nested as seen in stores. Soft-cup bras can be folded gently.
  • Panties: Fold and store in a drawer once completely dry.
  • Keep Hooks Closed: Always fasten bra clasps to prevent them from catching on other items.
  • Organizers: Use a dedicated lingerie drawer or organizer to keep items separate and protected from heavier clothing.
  • Traveling: When packing, lay bras flat and stuff them with socks or underwear to maintain their shape. Consider a travel case for molded bras if you travel frequently.

Additional Care Tips for Longevity

  • Rotate Your Bras: Avoid wearing the same bra every day. Let the elastic rest for 24 hours between wears to help maintain its shape.
  • Wash After 2–3 Wears: You don’t need to wash bras after each wear (unless they’re very soiled), but underwear should be washed after every use.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Steer clear of bleach, strong detergents, and fabric softeners that can degrade delicate fabrics and elastic. For whitening, use oxygen-based bleach sparingly.
  • Mind Your Lotions & Perfumes: Allow lotions, oils, or perfumes to fully absorb into your skin before dressing to prevent staining or damaging your lingerie.
  • Inspect Periodically: Check your bras for signs of wear—stretched elastic, bent hooks, or underwire issues—and replace them when necessary.
  • Caring for Your Lingerie: Spending a few extra minutes on proper care not only protects your investment but also honors the comfort and confidence your curvy lingerie brings you. For personalized care advice, feel free to reach out to our team.
